How Do I Cut My Cake?

Wedding Cake Cutting Guide

This guide shows how to cut popular shaped wedding tiers into pieces approximately 1 in. x 2 in. by two layers high (about 4 in.). Even if a larger serving size is desired, the order of cutting is still the same. The first step in cutting is to remove the top tier, and then begin the cutting with the 2nd tier followed by the 3rd, 4th and so on. The top tier can be saved for your first anniversary, or cut and served to guests!

Move in two inches from the tier’s outer edge; cut a circle and then slice 1 in. pieces within the circle. Now move in another 2 inches, cut another circle, slice 1 inch pieces and so on until the tier is completely cut. The center core of each tier and the small top tier can be cut into 3rds, 4ths, and 6ths, depending on size.

Move in 2 in. from the outer edge and cut across. Then slice 1 in. pieces of cake. Now move in another 2 in. and slice again until the entire tier is cut.

Cut similar to round tiers as diagram shows.

Divide the tiers vertically into 1/2ths, 4ths, 6ths and 8ths. Within rows,slice 1 in. pieces of cake.

Jill was so amazing! We were all set and had our wedding cake already booked when one month before the wedding our bakery went out of business and referred Jill to us. At first we were very nervous and hesitant because of the situation but after meeting Jill and tasting her cake flavors we felt like we got a even better cake than we would have originally. She was able to deliver on such a short notice to help us out. I am sure this is not a normal practice but willingness to help in such a desperate time was amazing. We were getting married at the El Cortez on June 11th 2011 and were wanting an exact replica of the El Cortez and I would say she came through in a major way. The cake looked great, tasted great, and was an exact match. Thank you Jill for everything, you helped us to start out our marriage in the right way.

Cute Cakes is such an amazing bakery. The cakes are delicious and they give you an incredible amount of tastings prior to your event where you can try all of your favorite flavors. We opted for a smaller three tier cake and sheet cake for over 200 guests. We were able to choose three flavors and all the guests loved them!

Every Cake Tasted Amazing!

Not only was our cake beautiful and exactly what I wanted, it tasted AMAZING. People are STILL talking about our cake! We got four layers. The bottom was a pound cake with raspberry filling. Then we had a strawberry cake with whipped cream and chopped strawberry filling (my favorite). Then there was a lemon cake with strawberry & raspberry filling (groom's favorite). Finally, the top was a marble with a chocolate ganache (bridesmaid favorite). We loved them all. We've moved, but I told my husband I want to come back to California and get a cake from here to celebrate every year!

During your tasting consultation, your consultant will provide you with a written estimate for the total cost of your wedding cake or cupcakes.

For simple budget setting purposes, our stacked wedding cakes begin at $6.00 per slice.

Additional serving sheet cakes start at $55.00, and cupcakes start at $42.00 per dozen.
